DAY 7, New Orelans LA to Kilgore TX

Dial 68 for Bedtime Stories..... This hotel offers this service. Didn't notice till woke up today and ready to checkout. It does actually provide a random bedtime story. But no speakerphone, You have to hold the reciever to listen.

We have to be in Boise, Idaho on Friday afternoon 22 July for the family reunion.. So that is about 6 days driving. Our original plan was to stay on a southern route and go towards the Pacific and then turn back and hit Boise on the return trip. We got started on the whole trip 3 days later than planned, so that does not work anymore! We are going to head directly North East now hot Boise first! So going to get to Amarillo TX, Then Raton NM, and to Colorado Springs CO. Then west cross the Rockies to MOAB UT, then North to Salt Lake City UT, and then North to Boise ID. That is about 2,500 miles from here in 5 days.

Came across our first Buc-ee’s. This is a relatively new model interstate convenience stop/rest stop. 100 gas pumps! And the food, made to order. If you see a Buc-ees stop for the experience.

So about 4 hours into our day, heard funny noise from car and air conditioning was not getting cold. This day was amongst the hottest. The Raw temperature was over 100 degrees across much of the region. Went about 1 more hour and decided to google a buick dealer and try to get them to look at it Monday morning. Found one on our path, sort of in KILGORE, TX. It is Sunday, can’t make any appointments. KILGORE was about 1 hour more. Arrived there and checked into Motel 6 near the dealer. Let the car sit for about 2 hours.

Stressed out as if you can really get a car repaired quickly. With that on my mind, I did some grocery shopping at a local grocery. First thing you see is the display of Kilgore Baseball Team uniforms, socks, shirts, etc… Strange to me, but this must be the place all the teams get their official gear. I bought a pair of Kilgore Baseball Socks. I don’t know, I guess I figured it would give me some street cred or good will when I walked into the Buick dealer tomorrow Monday. Left with my groceries and drove around and tested the AC. it was working fine and full force. Tested at highway speeds for about 40 minutes. Hmmmm.

Goto bed and wait for Monday.
